Seit 2024 ist media/rep/ bereits ein Teil des FID Media, was sich bisher aber weder im Namen noch im Erscheinungsbild widergespiegelt hat. Nun erfolgt die Umbenennung in FID Media Publish und auch das Design wurde im Zuge des neuen Corporate Design überarbeitet. Inhalte, Struktur und Funktionen bleiben aber alle wie gewohnt. Abstract

On the occasion of the Italian translation of Theorien des Dokumentarfilms zur Einführung (Hamburg: Junius 2020) / Teorie del film documentario (Turin: Einaudi 2023) (Theories of Documentary Film: An Introduction), this lecture outlines some general ideas on the history and theory of documentary filmmaking. The focus lies on the status of documentary film in the age of post-factuality. Yet post-factuality is not a novelty for documentary filmmaking; it has always been an integral part of its history.
