Operative Räume. Prozessarchitekturen im späten 19. Jahrhundert
Abstract
Around 1880 a new architectural concept evolves. The spatial layouts of functional buildings are increasingly designed in relation to the workflows taking place within them. On the basis of certain spatial operations, this article develops a typology of architectural constellations within late 19th century industrial, corporate or public buildings. These architectural constellations not only implemented new operational work sequences but also lead to a new understanding of processing the flows of objects as well as humans.
